SCSEP is a community service and work based training program for older workers funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. The NH State program is administered by the NH Department of Resources and Economic Development- Office of Workforce Opportunity and operated by Community Action Program, Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc.

SCSEP is available to low-income individuals age 55 or older who are unemployed and have poor employment prospects residing in Belknap, Merrimack and Rockingham counties.

SCSEP provides participants part-time work-based training in a wide variety of community service activities at non-profit and public facilities, including day-care centers, senior centers, schools and hospitals. The placements average 20 hours a week, and are paid minimum wage.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age 55+
  • Resident of Belknap, Merrimack or Rockingham county
  • Meet economic guidelines

Fast Facts

  • The goal of the program is to upgrade the participant’s employment skills through work-based training so they are better equipped to obtain unsubsidized employment
  • Participation in SCSEP has a lifetime limit of 48-months
