What is NH Reads AmeriCorps?

NH Reads AmeriCorps is a national and community service program that helps children from birth through third-grade become good readers.  AmeriCorps members bring reading, writing, arts and movement activities to community locations like Head Start, WIC clinics, childcare sites, after-school programs, housing sites, community centers, parent/child programs, adult education programs and libraries.  NH Reads members serve in many regions of the State.  Most positions are full time but a limited number of part-time positions with adjusted benefits may be available.

 

What Benefits NH Reads AmeriCorps members receive?

*    Living allowance of $454 biweekly during the service period

*    Education award of $4,725 after successful completion of program

*    Health insurance and childcare reimbursement (for eligible full-time members)

*    Mileage reimbursement for service-related travel

What are the qualifications?

*    At least 17 years of age and high school graduate or GED recipient, U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the U.S.  Adults of all ages and from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

*    Commitment to serve from September 2006 – August 2007.

*    Non-judgmental attitude, sensitivity to others, highly responsible and reliable.

*    Valid Driver’s License, dependable transportation and car insurance
