Elderly Housing

The Housing Program assists local communities within Belknap and Merrimack Counties in the development of affordable housing for the elderly.  These are independent living facilities and are rent subsidized.

Tenants are required to pay 30% of their adjusted income for rent.

There are currently 40 units (Riverside) in Franklin, 26 units (ProspectView) in Alton, 35 units (North Ridge) in Warner, 40 units (Heritage Terrace) in Belmont, and 50 units (Meadow Brook) in Epsom.

Alton          Belmont           Epsom           Franklin           Pembroke           Warner

The CAP Housing Program guides the local community group through the following processes:

  • Establishment of a community-based nonprofit corporation
  • The Land Acquisition process
  • The HUD development process
  • The acquiring of state or local approvals and permits
  • Construction

Once the development is completed, the Housing Program staff takes on the management function to assure compliance with HUD, federal and state housing regulations.
