Electric Assistance Program

The NH Electric Assistance Program (EAP) gives eligible customers a discount on their monthly electric bills.

The discount is from 5% to 70% depending on your gross household income and the type of fuel used to heat your home.

Customers of the following companies may apply for the discount:

  • Granite State Electric Company
  • New Hampshire Electric Cooperative
  • Public Service of New Hampshire
  • Unitil Energy Systems.(formerly Unitil/Concord Electric and Unitil/Exeter & Hampton Electric Companies)

Am I eligible?

You are eligible if:

  • You are a renter or a homeowner who receives an electric bill from any of the companies previously listed. You have gross income that qualifies you at the time you apply.

Your local CAA (Community Action Agency) can help you find out if you are eligible.  Find the office nearest you on the list at the end of this brochure.

How do I apply?

  • Call your local CAA office.  They will tell you what to bring to your appointment.
  • Have a copy of your most recent electric bill handy when you call.
  • Keep your appointment and bring all the paperwork CAA asks for.
  • If you cannot get to the office, you can arrange for a phone interview or a home visit.
